# Altitude in your AI assistant

> Read Workspace balances and Transactions, and request document exports through Altitude MCP.

Connect your AI assistant to Altitude and ask questions about your financial operations. Instead of copying balances or Transaction history into a chat, your assistant retrieves the information through a connection you authorize.

The server uses Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI assistants to tools and data. You sign in with your Altitude account, and your existing Permissions determine what the assistant can read.

<Info>
  Your assistant can read information and request document exports. It cannot
  create, Approve, or Submit Payments, change Workspace settings, or move funds.
</Info>

## What you can ask

| Task | What Altitude returns | Access required |
| - | - | - |
| Confirm your connection | The connected account's email, when available. | Signed-in account. |
| Find your Workspaces | Active Workspace memberships, including card-only access. | Signed-in account. |
| Check Account balances | Accounts and balances in a selected Workspace. | Workspace read access. |
| Review Transactions | Activity filtered by Account, date, type, or direction, with available amounts, counterparties, and statuses. | Workspace read access, or your own card activity with card-only access. |

You can also discover available documents, request an export, check its status, and download a completed PDF or CSV. Document access depends on your Permissions; own-card access covers your individual card statements and transaction statements for your own cards.

See [what you can ask](/mcp/tool-reference) for prompts to try, access requirements, and practical limits. To see what your connection provides, ask:

> Which Altitude tools are available in this connection?

For summaries, ask your assistant to read all result pages, check statuses and refunds, and disclose missing amounts. Unavailable values are not zero, and card-only results are not Workspace-wide totals.
